An áo yếm cut from the Tokyo Chōchin fabric, born from a photograph Designer Diego Cortizas took on a walk through Tokyo, of a traditional Japanese paper lantern with vertical bamboo ribs and hand-painted calligraphy.

Through his signature kaleidoscope technique, the image was folded and mirrored across itself until the lantern became a repeating pattern in red, cream, and black. Printed onto lightweight fabric that resists creasing and travels well. 

Cut as an áo yếm, the traditional Vietnamese halter with a covered front and open back, tied at the neck and waist.
